Spiderman for Atari 2600 is the first Spiderman game ever.
In this simple game you play as the Spiderman character climbing on a skyscraper with the use of a spider web rope, trying to defuse a bomb at the top. You can catch some criminals from the windows or defuse other bombs on your way up. There is also a green goblin jumping from left to right, trying to stop you from climbing.
The game is for one player, or two players taking turns. It is not possible to play together. You controll the character with your joystick. Holding the button will shoot the rope in the direction in which you are moving the joystick (up, left or right). The rope will stick to the building once you release the button. If the rope misses the building (or hits the window), it won't stick to anything and you begin to fall. You will also begin to fall if the rope touches any enemy obejct. You have to catch the rope to the building again during the fall before you hit the ground to avoid losing a life. You have a total of 3 lifes. If you managed to stick the rope correctly to the building, you can climb up using your joystick.
The goal is to climb up the skyscraper and defuse a bomb (a blinking rectangle). You have to swing your self on the bomb and be careful not to catch it with the rope. You have to defuse the bomb before the time runs out - red bar at the bottom right corner. The time bar can be filled again by catching criminals or defusing little bombs. If you run out of time, you will fall down without the option of catching your self to the building.
The game contains from 6 modes, which can be changed by the SELECT button. The game starts by pressing the RESET button. Modes 1, 3 and 5 are for one player, 2, 4 and 6 for two players. The higher the mode level, the higher is the difficulty.
