Space Invaders is very successful game from 1978 developed by Tomohiro Nishikado. It was originally made as an arcade gaming machine by the Japanese company called Taito. American division of this company then started to make the game also as cartridge for Atari 2600 in 1980. Considering the graphic possibilities of Atari 2600, the game looks quite poor compared to the original gaming machine version. However, the level of entertainment remains the same and Space Invaders became very successful game. The pixel aliens from this game are legendary characters among players today and we can see them in lots of movies, commercials, magazines etc.

The name of the game- Space Invaders - speaks for itself. Aliens from space lined into war formations decided to attack our beloved mother Earth. They are closing in from above, moving from left to right. As a protector of the Earth, your mission is to stop this invasion by shooting all the aliens. Your movement is restricted only to up and down and is controlled with the Joystick (moving it left and right). You can shoot with the button, but 1 shot at a time only. The difficulty is raised with the fact, that aliens are also shooting back at you and they are faster as they are getting closer. You can hide yourself in front of the shots behind some kind of barriers. If you manage to shoot all of them, you can proceed to the next level, which is always a little more difficult. For example the barriers disappear or are moving and blocking your bullets, or the aliens start their attack a little closer, begin to speed up sooner, or became invisible. The goal of the game is to collect as many points as possible.

Fun Facts:

- Space Invaders game was originally designed with marching army of soldiers, not flying aliens.

- The game was made for many gaming platforms and made about half billion dollars since the beginning of it's existence.
